Tancho Sanke Nisai

Shintaro Tancho Sanke Nisai

Japan Trip 2008

One of the shortest times Ive been here and one of the most successful trips, strange how it works.

With the new farm being very much work in progress, time had to be short this trip. We managed to fit alot into it though. The exchange rate hasn’t helped us but we will still be trying to sell our Koi at the same kind of prices as when the rate was higher. We will be bringing in around 1200 Koi this year ranging from 2 year old fish, all the way up to 8 year old jumbo Koi. Exciting times.

I would like to give a special thanks to the clients who bought Koi this trip. Yamamatsu’s #1 Sansai Kohaku, Toshio Sakai’s very best jumbo Nisai, a Sanke like has never been seen before which will be staying in Japan the coming year. Yozaimons best 5 year old Showa, Izumiya 88cm Jumbo Yamabuki Ogon, Superb Hasegawa Nisai…The list goes on. We are in a difficult climate and with the exchange as it is people have still supported me and the breeders, massive thanks.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to the new shop when these Koi arrive. We have hand selected the very best Koi available in Niigata and Isawa. You must come down and enjoy viewing them when they are ready.

They will be fully blood tested for virus and 100% clear of any parasites.

Keep an eye on the website for updates of when the Koi will be arriving from Shintaro, Hasegawa, Yozaimon, Izumiya, Yamazaki, Yamamatsu and Isawa Nishikigoi Centre. All these Koi must be viewed.

Check out the news section for our updates.

Terrible weather today. Decided to get some much needed pictures from Shintaro.

As always his Koi are fantastic, A few customers are going to VERY happy with the results of this years harvests.

After lunch at Shintaro’s we dropped down into Ojiya. Went and saw Dainichi getting some Koi ready for the show this weekend, also went to Hoshkin and had a look at his stocks.

UKNishikigoi Japan, Isawa

Today we visited Isawa Nishikigoi Centre, home of arguably the best Koi Breeder in the world.

As usual we were blown away, Toshio Sakai was at his very best. In total we bought over 1000 Koi today. Which will bring you the largest selection of high class Koi in the UK.

We started out in the main pond viewing Sansai and Yonsai, I already had orders for these and also previous years buyers needed pictures taking. The Koi as always were unreal. His very best 2 year old Sanke would make anyone drool, one of theĀ  best Nisai I have ever seen. Toshio also showed us a few samples of his latest style of Showa, the first generation. They were very nice, really different in many ways, I will get more shots in a couple of days.

Around 4pm, 2 trucks with 3 containers each on rolled up. Jumbo Nisai from Matsunosuke’s ponds in Joetsu. We went to one of the other facilities in Isawa and stood in awe watching him pick through these Koi. We will go back on Sunday to select, Some nisai were over 60cms.

Another busy day today. Torazo first thing to re photograph some Koi, then onto Hirasawa to get good shots of the fish already bought.

Great time at Hasegawa’s picking 50 stunning Nisai from the ‘understocked’ outside pond. Some fantastic Koi. I havent bought in those numbers for a few years, was great to pick them. Check out the quality on them, pictured outside, they are incredible.4 year old Showa pictured thats going to South Africa, excellent Koi. One of Hasegawa’s best ever.

Went to get some pictures of customers Koi at Yamamatsu, ended up getting some pictures of his very best Koi. A Sansai (3yrs) very modern Sanke with the best white I think ive ever seen! Then the 4 year, 80cm Sanke…Must be seen in the flesh, 100% tategoi still. Expect big things from it in the future.

A great day!

Driving to Isawa Sakai tomorrow, expect some cracking pics.

(I made the pics a little bigger so make a few more seconds to load, but look much better)

Fantastic day had by all. Had a field day at Izumiya, 10 superb Sansai Yamabuki plus a HUGE cream Yamabuki at 88cms! We also got 2 Shiro Utsuri’s which have to be seen in person, they are top class Shiro’s.

Hirasawa was in the mood for showing us some great Koi today, bought 5 Go-Sanke, all over 70cms, some over 75cms. Awesome Koi. Will really make our big pond shine. 5 beautiful goshiki from Yozaimon also.

Called in at Yamamatsu at the the end of the day, he was harvesting a pond for a client of his, some great Koi came out including a huge Chagoi. Went back to the shop and photgraphed a Sansai Kohaku he has as his best Sansai Kohaku, stunning Sandan, I remember it last year at Nisai, even better now.

After a great flight andf a couple of train rides we arrived in Nagaoka around 2.30pm. Straight out to the mountains was the call, so thats what we did. I only wanted to pop into Yagenji and say hello but we saw some Koi we must have. After Yagenji we called in at Yamamatsu and I cannot wait to lift Koi there tomorrow, as always they were out of this world, keep an eye out for them. Anyway, some pics of the Koi we bought at Yagenji. If you require the high res pictures please email me and I will get them to you.
